HAC Gallery and Gift Shop operates year-round. <br /> b. Last Fridays happen spring — fall, bringing both locals and visitors to <br /> downtown Hillsborough to enjoy the arts, and share information through <br /> community booths. <br /> c. Last Friday Art Walk, January through November, provides a walking tour of <br /> our diverse arts and crafts and encourages sales. <br /> d. The Handmade Puppet Parade, happening every even year in October, and <br /> the Solstice <br /> e. Lantern Walk, happening in December, bring people together in creative <br /> workshops and joyful, peaceful participation. <br /> f. Parlor Concerts, is within the months of January through March, are hosted in <br /> the intimate settings of historic homes of Hillsborough. <br /> g. Hillsborough Downtown Arts and Crafts Show in April promotes the work <br /> of local artists. <br /> h. Arts Alive happens year-round as local talent is available and brings local <br /> authors, photographers, and musicians together with citizens to experience <br /> their combined talents in ways beyond the usual "readings" format. <br /> i. Free Spirit Freedom a year-round program celebrates the diversity of Orange <br /> County's historic past and future through photography and narrative, providing <br /> opportunities to learn about the contributions of African Americans to our <br /> community. <br /> j. ArtCycle is a year-round program most active when school is in session, <br /> encourages citizens to contribute new and used supplies to students in school <br /> art classes. <br /> k. New Afterschool Art Program is starting with two weeks in the fall and two in <br /> the spring, brings our diverse student populations together, working on <br /> projects to be presented in Hillsborough. <br /> Each of these programs is chaired and implemented by volunteers. Their success and enthusiasm <br /> are enabled by our Program Director. <br /> i) Why is funding this program a good investment for the community? How does this <br /> program add value to the community (250 words or less). <br /> The Hillsborough Arts Council builds human connection by providing lively ongoing programs, <br /> services, and events. We bring people together to enjoy local creative resources, to encourage the <br /> artful expression of individuals of all ages, to provide a market for local artists, and to encourage <br /> local economic vitality through tourism.
