• The group opens discussions on school construction issues, school capacity planning, and <br />class size. <br />• The group debriefs the 10/25/04 BOCC work session on capital funding. <br />10/4/04 <br />• Chairs, Vice Chairs, Manager, and Superintendents debrief the 9/27/04 meeting of the School <br />Boards and Board of County Commissioners. <br />• The group creates a list of potential "new paradigm" programs. <br />• The group raises the possibility of a meeting or series of meetings to address school <br />construction issues. <br />• Group continues tracking implementation of the ten areas of collaboration agreed to by the <br />two School Boards on 3/22. The group agrees that: <br />o Joint planning to "Create More Early Childhood Programs" and for Alternative <br />Schools will begin in 2005 -2006. <br />o Superintendents will: <br />• Compile and consolidate information about After School programming in <br />their respective districts, and share it with the other group members before <br />Christmas. <br />Collaborate on securing future finding for Communities in Schools (CIS) <br />Middle Schools After School Programs. <br />Convene middle school principals and Athletic Directors before Christmas to <br />clarify concerns and issues relating to the proposal to create an Orange County <br />Middle School Athletic Conference. <br />9/27/04 <br />School Boards and BOCC meet. <br />8/24/04 <br />• Chairs, Vice Chairs, Manager, and Superintendents agree to initiate a discussion among all <br />elected boards in the County on school safety. <br />• Group brainstorms nine possible "new paradigm" initiatives. <br />• Group resolves a delay in renewing a contract between Orange County and CHCCS for the <br />operation of a library branch at McDougle Middle and Elementary Schools. <br />• Group hears concerns from Mr. Jacobs and Dr. Pedersen about communication and <br />collaboration between CHCCS and the County. <br />7/8/04 <br />• Vice Chairs join the group <br />• Chairs, Vice Chairs, Manager, and Superintendents discuss mental health system reform, and <br />opportunities that "new paradigm" finding might provide for meeting students' mental <br />health needs. <br />• Group begins tracking implementation of the ten areas of collaboration agreed to by the two <br />School Boards on 3/22. They agree to the following: <br />o Drs.
