P �, <br />UPDATED 04/18106 <br />Overview of Collaboration Meetings <br />2004 -2006 <br />4/3/06 <br />• Discussion of sustainability in local public school facilities, following presentation <br />from Cynthia Pollock Shea, Director of the UNC -CH Sustainability Office, on <br />measures being taken to advance campus sustainability goals <br />• Discussion on community use of school recreation facilities, following presentations <br />from the Of County Recreation and Parks Advisory Council, Carrboro <br />Recreation and Parks Commission, and the Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation <br />Department. <br />.3/20/06 <br />• Distribution by Dr. Pedersen of information on community use of CHCCS school <br />facilities for 2004 -05, enrollment in after- school programs for elementary and middle <br />schools, and Policy 9040, which drives the district's building standards in new <br />schools. <br />• Continued discussion of school construction standards, following presentations from <br />the Wake County Public School System, the John Locke Foundation, and the North <br />Carolina Department of Public Instruction. <br />2/13/06 <br />• BOCC Vice Chair Steve Halkiotis and the CHCCS Vice Chair Jannezetta Bradford <br />joint the group. Greg Wilder, Director of Operations in the County Manager's Office, <br />also will be attending all future Collaboration Group meetings. <br />• Group continues its discussion of school construction standards after reviewing <br />background infonnation distributed by Rod Visser. <br />• Group sets goals for addressing school construction standards: <br />• By April 25, 2006 .Joint Meeting - Clarify what is needed and share <br />information "off line," hear /discuss presentations from selected resource <br />persons, generate a synthesis of what has been learned by the <br />Collaboration Group. <br />• Between 4/25 and the September 26 joint meeting - Work with staffs to <br />generate a useful product relating to school construction standards. <br />• Between 9/26/06 and January 2007 — Prepare for appointments and <br />charging a bond study group.. <br />o Between 1/2007 and April 2007 — Report due from capital facilities bond <br />study group. <br />School officials agree to organize a joint dinner meeting for their Boards. <br />11/10/05 <br />• Group agrees to bring to their respective boards for consideration the <br />recommendation that the community (a) move toward the Governor's 1:21 <br />
