Based on Compass <br /> Center's mission to serve all populations regardless of ethnic origin, race, sexual <br /> orientation, gender, gender identification, gender expression, religion, veteran status, and <br /> socioeconomic status, we strive to serve persons from all ethnic and minority groups who <br /> are in need of our services. We utilize online communications, in-person outreach, and <br /> referrals to connect with clients for Information and Referral services, community outreach <br /> and civic engagement programs; we partner with Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools on <br /> Start Strong. <br /> g) Describe the credentials of the program manager and other key staff. (Ex. Identify Program <br /> Manager and credentials, describe training provided to volunteers, etc.) <br /> Community education and civic engagement services will be carried out by our Director of <br /> Education Programs, Development and Communications Coordinator, Executive Director, <br /> Johnson Service Corps intern and Associate Director in conjunction with other staff and <br /> volunteers. The Director of Education Programs position requires a Bachelor's degree and <br /> two years full-time work experience and staff supervisory experience is preferred. <br /> Experience working with clients in crisis, youth, and volunteers is also required. The <br /> Executive Director position requires experience with community outreach and partner <br /> relations, and the current Executive Director has an MBA degree. The Johnson Service <br /> Corps position requires volunteer management experience and interns complete our <br /> Information & Referral training; Spanish language proficiency is preferred. The <br /> Development and Communications Coordinator position requires experience with outreach, <br /> working with volunteers, social media and web expertise. The Associate Director position <br /> requires a Master's in Social Work, Counseling or an equivalent degree in human services. <br /> This programming is offered at locations throughout the county including government and <br /> non-profit service providers, community events, places of worship, libraries, and <br /> businesses. Youth education is provided in local middle schools during health classes. <br /> The following trained volunteer positions support these programs: information and referral <br /> volunteers, community educators, advocacy interns, and special event volunteers. <br /> Community educators must complete 24 hours of training plus shadowing. Information and <br /> Referral volunteers complete a 17 hour training plus shadowing shifts and make a 6 month <br /> commitment. Special event volunteers and advocacy interns have trainings tailored to their <br /> work or the event that they must complete. <br /> h) Describe the specific period over which the activities will be carried out and include an <br /> implementation timeline. <br /> Information and Referral Line: This service is offered during business hours all year by <br /> phone or in-person. <br /> Start Strong: Offered in school health classrooms September-December and January- <br /> May. Two sessions offered in each health classroom in 6th and 8th grade in Chapel-Hill- <br /> Carrboro City Schools. <br /> Community Education: Offered as requested throughout the year. Generally offer 6-15 <br /> presentations monthly. <br /> Professional Workshops: Offered as requested throughout the year Generally offer 1-4 <br /> presentations monthly. <br /> Women's History Month: March is national Women's History Month.
