We also have BUYcott events encouraging local residents to
patronize one of our living wage employers on a designated day each quarter.
d) Agency's History with Providing These Services:
Certification of employers has been operational since Summer 2015. All certification
activities are completed solely by a team of seven volunteers. From the beginning
our efforts have been modeled on the certification program in Asheville, NC called
Just Economics that was founded eight years ago and has now certified over 400
employers.
e) Other Pertinent Agency Information (Ex. Has the agency experienced any major changes
in the past year? Is there a new Executive Director? Are there new initiatives?)
We reached the #100 mark for certified living wage employers in January 2017. Led
by Orange County, all municipalities and other public employers in the county are
now on board: the Towns of Carrboro, Chapel Hill, and Hillsborough; both public
school systems, OWASA, and Orange County ABC. The other certified employers
include a diverse mix of for-profit and nonprofit businesses and organizations. To
handle the growing workload, Orange County Living Wage hired a part-time
administrative assistant in Fall 2016 to assist with budget management, community
outreach, and fundraising. The administrative assistant position is funded through a
generous outside funding grant from Orange County. Fueling further growth in the
coming year is the development of a social media presence in several outlets,
website development and enhancements, and a new mobile application. All of these
efforts require paid consulting services for both development and ongoing
maintenance.
f) Schedule of Positions (For Entire Agency)
• Full Time Equivalent(FTE) staff will be noted as 1.00; half time as .50; quarter time as .25, etc.
• Calculate a Full Time Equivalent for all recorded volunteer hours using the following:
Total Volunteer Hours=Volunteer FTE
2,080
# of FTE - Full-Time Paid Positions: 0
# of FTE - Paid Part-Time Positions: .25
# of Volunteers: 11 # of FTE - Volunteers: 1.75 (note: FTE for two
of the volunteer officers is .40)
g) Living Wage
DO NOT SUBMIT THIS PAGE 12/15/2016 9:57:17 AMIII' : 14 lr 32
