Residencies will take place in regular classroom settings (K-5). <br /> Project Activities <br /> This Artist in Residence program, through a partnership with The ArtsCenter, began in 2008 <br /> with one Title 1 elementary school - Central Elementary - and expanded to all three Title 1 <br /> schools in the district in 2013 due to the overwhelming success of the program, In 2017-2018, <br /> the program will include four Title 1 elementary schools, including Grady Brown Elementary <br /> which has been newly identified as Title 1, <br /> The goals of the program are to provide underserved students opportunities to learn curriculum <br /> through the arts (non-traditional instructional methods), to offer experiences to students who <br /> would not have opportunities to work with artists outside of school, to increase student <br /> engagement and motivation in classrooms and to provide teachers with strategies for using the <br /> arts to teach curriculum. <br />
