When geese <br /> honked across a clear October sky, <br /> she saw the slide of fatted birds <br /> across his carving board. <br /> Those years flew faster <br /> than a flock of sixty geese. <br /> Her egg timer hasn't dropped <br /> a grain of sand in the two years <br /> since he died. Yet she can't <br /> remember how to make <br /> her famous airy cakes. <br /> Asked the recipe for butter frosting <br /> she shakes her head, muttering <br /> about stars.
