Events will take place at three facilities <br /> between the months of October 2017 and May 2018. The events are as follows: <br /> • Organize and host a two-hour reading at the Orange County Main Library in Hillsborough on <br /> October 17, 2017. The event will feature four poets reading work on the theme of Poets on <br /> Family. <br /> • Prepare and teach a three-hour writing workshop, Writing About Family, to be held at the <br /> Orange County Main Library in Hillsborough on October 21, 2017. The workshop will explore <br /> both the joys and painful truths about family and relationships. The workshop will be open to <br /> the public; writers working at all levels and in other genres will be welcome. <br /> • Organize and host a two-hour reading at the Orange County Main Library in Hillsborough on <br /> February 21, 2018. The event will feature four poets reading on the theme of Black History, <br /> Black Futures. <br /> • Prepare and teach a three-hour writing workshop titled Skin, to be held at the Orange County <br /> Main Library in Hillsborough on February 24, 2018. The workshop will explore skin as the <br /> organ that houses us. We'll write about scars, wrinkles, piercings, and tattoos. More importantly, <br /> we'll connsider what our skin color has earned or cost us and how racism affects us personally <br /> and as a society. <br /> • Prepare and present a 45-minute lecture entitled Peace of Mind: Poetry as a Friend on Life's <br /> Journey for seniors at the Passmore Center in Hillsborough and the Seymour Center in Chapel <br /> Hill. Dates to be determined. <br /> • Prepare and teach a two-hour writing workshop for seniors at the Passmore Center and the <br /> Seymour Center on the theme of Journeys, Real and Metaphorical. The workshop will be <br /> structured to serve both experienced poets and new writers. Dates to be determined. <br /> At library events, library staff will provide support by advertising all events both on-line and in the <br /> library.
