<br /> During 2016-2017, the following performers visited Estes Hills Elementary School:
<br /> Kuniko Yamamoto. Ms. Yamamoto will perform "Origami Tales" twice on November 15th,
<br /> _
<br /> 2016, once for students in grades K-2nd and once for students in grades 3 rd5th. During the
<br /> show, students will learn about the world of origami. In Japanese, on means "to fold" and
<br /> gami means "paper." Using a unique combination of origami, music, and audience
<br /> participation, Ms. Yamamoto will introduce the students to Japanese culture and ancient
<br /> Japan. A skilled storyteller, Ms. Yamamoto will incorporate character masks and puppets
<br /> along with origami to breathe magic into Japanese mythology.
<br /> Charles Pettee. Mr. Pettee will perform "Here the Sound" twice on January 10th, 2017,
<br /> once for students in grades K-2nd and once for students in grades 3rd_5th• Using a banjo,
<br /> harmonica, guitar, mandolin, and voice, as well as a variety of hats, Mr. Pettee will
<br /> introduce students to the rich tapestry of music in the Carolinas, including the music of the
<br /> Pilgrims, Native Americans, and African Americans. Mr. Pettee encourages rhythmic
<br /> clapping and spontaneous discussion throughout his performances.
<br /> Bright Star Children's Theatre. Bright Star Children's Theatre will perform "George
<br /> Washington Carver & Friends" twice on March 1st, 2017, once for students in grades K-
<br /> 2nd and once for students in grades 3rd_5th. Bright Star Children's Theatre will bring alive
<br /> the stories of Booker T. Washington, Jackie Robinson, Thurgood Marshall, Madame C.J.
<br /> Walker, and more, as told by George Washington Carver in a fast-paced and humorous
<br /> theatrical production that will inspire and delight the students.
<br /> During 2015-2016, the following performers visited Estes Hills Elementary School:
<br /> Red Herring Puppets performed their show, "ELECTRICITY!" twice on October 20th,
<br /> 2015, once for students in grades K-2nd and once for students in grades 3 rd_5th. During
<br /> the show, students learned about the earth's magnetic force and static electricity from
<br /> large, Bunraku-style, tabletop puppets that portrayed famous scientists and other
<br /> historical figures.
<br /> Mister 0 performed one show for our K-2nd classes on November 12th, 2015. Mister G
<br /> holds a Masters of Arts in Early Childhood Education. He also won a Latin Grammy
<br /> nomination for his album, "ABC Fiesta." Mister G's performance wove together Spanish
<br /> and English lyrics, creating catchy, educational, inspiring tunes in a variety of musical
<br /> styles, including bluegrass, funk, jazz, reggae, and rock.
<br /> Didgeridoo Down Under performed one show for our 3rd_5th grade classes on January
<br /> 8th, 2016. Typically a hollowed out tree trunk, the didgeridoo is known for its otherworldly
<br /> sound. It has been played by Aboriginal Australians for over 1,500 years. Didgeridoo
<br /> Down Under combined Australian music and culture with science, literacy development,
<br /> and anti-bullying themes using comedy, puppetry, and audience participation.
