Weig has lived in Hillsborough for the past twelve years and has been
a parish historian for St. Matthew's Episcopal Church. Her research focuses on
the stained glass windows and churchyard, and women of the church. She
recently moved to Wilmington, North Carolina, where she is the archivist and
historian for St. Paul's Episcopal Church. She is a retired child life specialist,
with a master's degree in early childhood education, specializing in the
hospitalized child, from Worcester State College.
The authors and artists are Caucasian, and volunteered for the project. They each will
receive several free copies of the book and are not receiving additional compensation.
PROJECT PUBLICITY
The publicity for Hidden Hillsborough is outlined above. Eno has extensive media
contact lists and will send press releases to media outlets about the book itself and
about events. In addition,we have an active social media calendar and will post about
Hidden Hillsborough and related events on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, as well as
on our own website, www.enopublishers.org.
We also will use the posters of the book cover and image/quotes to serve as a
visual cue in various venues.
PROJECT EVALUATION
Publishing has a very tangible technique for evaluating the success of a project book
sales. We carefully track sales and online reviews and work to support those sales by
providing promotional information (posters, bookmarks, event, publicity) to our
booksellers.
There are also attendance goals that we set and track for Eno events. In the most
basic terms, if the books sell well, we have succeeded.
For a community project such as Hidden Hillsborough there are also less tangible
ways to evaluate the effectiveness of a publishing program. Community engagement
comes in many forms: lectures, author and artist contacts, kickstarting other projects
and further research. We hope Hidden Hillsborough will be the beginning of a long
conversation about how a town evolves and remains aware of its past.
Eno Publishers: Hidden Hillsborough 5
