Both posters
would be mounted and would be made available free of charge to booksellers in the
area or interested institutions. We plan to do 10 of each poster.
PROJECT GOALS
Quite simply, we hope to get the book and its excellent information and
documentary art in the hands of as many local residents as possible. We will use our
OCAC Grassroots grant to do that by pursuing the marketing program outlined
above.
OUR AUDIENCE & LOCATION INFORMATION
Hidden Hillsborough will appeal to town and county residents of all ages and
ethnicities. From pedestrians to preservationists, from students to seniors, the book
will offer a glimpse of our shared contemporary community and shared past.
Beyond our border, the book should have appeal to people interested in historical
towns, Southern towns, and preservation. We anticipate interest from throughout
North Carolina and the Southeast.
We hope to attract people with a keen interest in the historic references in our
contemporary world by publicizing and encouraging attendance at a series of events at
the public libraries throughout the county, bookstores, as well as a Friends of the
Library event at the University of North Carolina and the North Carolina Museum of
History.
The launch for the book will be held at the Burwell School in Hillsborough in
October, with more than 100 people expected to attend. We are making a concerted
effort to appeal to a diverse community for the book events, contacting historic
African-American church congregations and institutions.
Complimentary copies of the book will be sent to key officials in the community.
ARTISTS & WRITERS
Hidden Hillsborough is an excellent example of a collaborative effort at its best.
