The expectations for this group
are set high, and students are encouraged to reach rieir full potentials as individual performers
and as part of the whole group, Recruiting students from every elementary school creates a
greater sense of community because they realize that there are others outside of their own
school who are striving to reach the same goals.
Artists Involved in the Project
Teresa Morrow, Choral Director at C.W. Stanford Middle, will serve as the guest clinician for All
County Chorus. She was chosen because she has elementary and middle school experience
as a choral and music teacher and will be able to provide students with a glimpse of what to
expect in middle school. As an African-American woman, she also brings a much needed level
of diversity to the experience, which will ideally inspire a diverse set of students to participate.
The clinician pay rate is $500 total, which includes planning, directing a full day of rehearsals
with approximately 120 students and the choral concert„
Wayne Wilson, music teacher at Pathways Elementary, will coordinate the event.
Publicity and Promotion of Project
Elementary schools will promote All County Chorus to fourth and fifth grade students in late Fall
to give them opportunities to sign up and/or audition as representatives of their schools, The
final concert is promoted and publicized by individual schools through weekly electronic
newsletters, school-wide auto calls, and classroom newsletters, as well as by Orange County
Schools via district-wide auto calls and social media posts. All County Chorus coordinators also
plan on contacting the ews of Orange news outlet to request coverage of the event.
Project Evaluation
The success of All County Chorus will first be measured based on how many fourth and fifth
grade students sign up and/or audition initially. A high level of participation from students
indicates the value they see in the experience based on the learning potential from the clinician,
as well as how effective communication has been about the event. To assess the effectiveness
of the actual experience, students and music teachers will be given surveys following the clinic
and concert to determine if and how the experience enhanced their vocal abilities and
