The County's
Department of Housing and Community Development administers the Section 8 Program that
provides rent subsidies to low income families in the County.
The PHA Plan is a 5-year plan that describes the mission of the Agency and the Agency's long-
range goals and objectives for achieving its mission over the next five (5) years -Fiscal Years
2005-2010. The Board of County Commissioners approved the last Five (5) Year Plan on April
19, 2005.
Currently, the Section 8 Housing Program serves approximately 623 families throughout the
County including the Towns of Carrboro, Chapel Hill and Hillsborough. The plan will be made available for public comment for the period April 12, 2006 to
May 26, 2006 as advertised in the Chapel Hill Herald. All public comment received will be
incorporated into the PHA Plan. There are no substantive changes proposed in the Annual
Plan since the Five (5) Year Plan was approved last year.
This plan must be filed with HUD and must contain the attached Certification of Compliance/
Board Resolution signed by the Chair of the Board of Commissioners in order to continue to
administer the Section 8 Existing Housing Choice Voucher Program.
