4 <br /> • Sportsplex funds — receipt of $5,000 from the Sportsplex for after-hours use and <br /> staffing costs of the Passmore Senior Center classrooms. <br /> • State Senior Center General Purpose funds — receipt of $21,878 from the N.0 <br /> Division of Aging and Adult Services General Purpose funding, to be used to cover <br /> temporary personnel and program supplies. <br /> • Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (United Way Funding) — receipt of $4,900 from <br /> the Triangle United Way, through support of the federal VITA tax preparation service. <br /> These funds will be used to pay for seasonal personnel and supply costs. <br /> • American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) Community Challenge Grant — <br /> receipt of$10,125 grant to purchase and install seats at 15 OPT bus stops. <br /> • Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA) — receipt of <br /> $1,750 from the N.C. Department of Insurance, through the Triangle J Area Agency <br /> on Aging. These funds will be used for outreach on services available through the <br /> SHIIP and low income subsidy programs. <br /> This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these additional funds. (See <br /> Attachment 1, columns 6 and 7) <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goals are <br /> applicable to these items: <br /> • GOAL: CREATE A SAFE COMMUNITY <br /> The reduction of risks from vehicle/traffic accidents, childhood and senior injuries, <br /> gang activity, substance abuse and domestic violence. <br /> • GOAL: ENSURE ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY <br /> The creation and preservation of infrastructure, policies, programs and funding <br /> necessary for residents to provide shelter, food, clothing and medical care for <br /> themselves and their dependents. <br /> Criminal Justice Resource Department <br /> 8. The Criminal Justice Resource Department has received notification of additional <br /> revenues of $2,500 from the ABC Board to support drug treatment court program <br /> expenses. <br /> This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these additional funds. (See <br /> Attachment 1, column 8) <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goals are <br /> applicable to this item: <br /> • GOAL: CREATE A SAFE COMMUNITY <br /> The reduction of risks from vehicle/traffic accidents, childhood and senior injuries, <br /> gang activity, substance abuse and domestic violence. <br /> These additional funds will support Orange County residents with substance use <br /> disorders that are participating in our two Drug Treatment Courts. These Courts are <br /> designed to provide long-term structure, therapeutic support and accountability for <br /> individuals with substance use disorders who are in the criminal justice system or face <br /> abuse, dependency or neglect petitions as parents in DSS Court. Individuals that <br /> successfully complete these courts are far less likely to commit new criminal offenses <br /> and will be in more stable employment and housing. <br />
