In recent months we have worked closely with the Town of Chapel Hill as a network
of "makers" from the community was established. Through this initiative we made many new
connections and welcomed new specialists to our Curating Creativity programming.
8. Describe how the project will be publicized and promoted to reach intended participants.
Kidzu publicizes and promotes programs through a variety of mediums:
• e-blasts to our 1,200 member households and over 5,000 general information email
database
• social media promotion (Facebook, twitter, Instagram)
• press releases
• local press opportunities such as chapelboro.com, Chapel Hill Magazine, WCHL, News
and Observer and the Indy
• in-museum promotion seen by approximately 5,000-7,500 visitors per month
9. Describe how you will evaluate the project.
Since Kidzu opened in 2006,the museum has worked to design and implement informative
evaluation into the fabric of our museum. We are devoted to providing evidence-based practice,
evaluation, and research into all of our exhibits and programs. Our practices are based on the
"spiral of educational innovation," an iterative, ongoing process that integrates evidence-based
practice, evaluation, research, prototyping, and implementation.
Evidence of success for the Curating Creativity will be gauged through: 1) the number of visitors
(tracking child ages, ethnicity and household income); 2) front-end evaluations gauging
participants interest in STEM, literacy, art and health and wellness 3) summative evaluations
from the participants; 4) Parent/ caregiver surveys - open-ended questions about their Kidzu
experience and suggestions for improvement.
)(n r
f ri(
(1-0(11( 4)wl0 ,rfro
