DocuSign Envelope ID:56A5C00E-OF80-4BDF-A1A7-5530FODB9396
111111100111 IA)0 ll1111
011111.DRIIC 11 MINIUM
Curating Creativity will introduce Kidzu visitors to creative professionals from an array of
fields—visual and performing arts; scientists; technology; engineering; "makers," gardeners,
farmers, chefs and others distinguished by their creativity. Kidzu is particularly interested in
highlighting "STEAM" disciplines to underscore that interdisciplinary nature of creativity. For
example, a sound engineer from UNC's "Beat Lab" works with visitors to play with musical
patterns and layer samples into a unique piece of music to be shared with future visitors,
3. State your project's goals.
Curating Creativity is designed to address two primary educational goals:
1. Start Creative, Stay Creative: Offer experiences that nurture children's creativity, help
children learn to think of themselves as inherently creative, motivate them to be
creative for the sheer fun of it, and encourage children to see creativity as a lifelong and
"life-wide" experience.
2. Creativity for All: Demonstrate the universality of creativity, to promote creativity as a
social and cultural bridge, and to foster creative connections across disciplines. For
children to succeed in school and in life, they must be able to think creatively and weave
together insights and knowledge across a growing array of disciplines. We seek to help
visitors of all ages and backgrounds recognize that creativity is not the sole province of
artists and others traditionally seen as creative. Kidzu also recognizes the power of
creative experiences to help children and adults bridge cultures, socioeconomic levels,
generations, abilities, and other real and perceived differences among diverse members
of our community.
4. Offer a description of intended participants/audience, including estimated numbers and
racial and cultural composition. For school applications please include the demographic
breakdown of the student body, as well as the percentage of students on the Free and
Reduced Lunch Program.
Kidzu anticipates serving a minimum of 2,500 community children and adults over the 12
month calendar of Curating Creativity programs. Currently, over 75% of our visitors reside
within Chapel Hill/Carrboro/Hillsborough. The Kidzu visitors reflects the diverse Orange County
community and through strengthened partnerships with local social service agencies,
non-profits such as; Family Success Alliance, Cedar Grove Community Center, Hargraves
Community Center, and the Refugee Support Center we expect a high number of low-to
moderate income households to participate in the program during "pay what you can" Sundays.
5. Describe the location where project will take place.
Kidzu is currently housed in its new 8,500sf facility at University Mall, where the museum will be
located for the next three years, and is on track to serve approximately 100,000 visitors
r ;
