HAC activities take place throughout Hillsborough: at the HAC Gallery and Gift Shop, in private homes, in the schools, and in the streets and public squares. Board meetings and administrative activities take place mostly in the Gallery and Gift Shop. Efforts continue in reaching out to northern Orange County to develop relationships and offer programming. G. Explain all project activities. Ongoing Activities Each program is chaired and implemented by volunteers with a liaison to the board. Each program has its own set of needs and timing. As part of the HAC's efforts to reorganize and streamline operations, program committees have developed written procedures enabling continuity and coordination from year to year. • Hillsborough Arts Council Gallery and Gift Shop provides a consistent venue for the works of local artists and features monthly exhibits featuring artists from throughout the region. • Last Fridays bring visitors and locals to downtown Hillsborough to patronize the businesses and restaurants. It also brings our diverse communities of non-profits, po|idciano, artista, community representatives and citizens together to share information about their events and purposes, generating discussion and collaboration. • Last Fridays Art Walks brings visitors and locals on a walking tour of Hillsborough's diverse arts and crafts venues, encouraging sales. • Hillsborough Handmade Parade and Solstice Lantern Walk bring people together in workshops to create their costumes, puppets, lanterns, and to participate together in peaceful,joyful ortiaticpenadea. Theyettrect people downtown to eat and patronize businesses. • Parlor Concerts bring people into historic homes to e joy music, converse with one another and patronize local businesses and restaurants. • Hillsborough Downtown Arts and Crafts Show brings visitors to town and promotes the work of local artists. • Hillsborough Sculpture Tour including the Patrick Dougherty Stickwork in Hillsborough, involves citizens in creating, experiencing and evaluating public art. • Arts Alive brings local authors, photographers, musicians together with citizens to experience their combined talents in ways beyond the usual "readings"format. It brings visitors and locals downtown to patronize the businesses and restaurants. • Free Spirit Freedom is a program celebrating the diversity of Orange County's historic past and future through photography and narrative. It provides opportunities for citizens to learn about and discuss African American contributions to Hillsborough. • Art Cycle encourages citizens to contribute new and used supplies to students in school art classes and lets students experience the benefits of those contributions to their art. • New Afterschool Art Program will bring our diverse student populations together, working on p jects to be presented in Hillsborough.
