He also reviewed details about the upcoming "Community <br /> Read" Book. He thanked the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) for its ongoing <br /> support. <br /> b. Announcements, Petitions and Comments by Board Members <br /> Commissioner McKee said he was glad Mr. Russell brought the Community Read book <br /> to the Board's attention. <br /> Commissioner Jacobs said he asked Steve Brantley, Economic Development Director, <br /> if he would provide an analysis of HB 795, which has been sent to the Board. He asked if the <br /> Board would deem it appropriate to send this analysis on to the North Carolina Association of <br /> County Commissioners (NCACC). <br /> Commissioner Jacobs requested that the Department of Environment, Agriculture, <br /> Parks and Recreation (DEAPR) make a presentation to the Board in the fall about the Lands <br /> Legacy program. <br /> Commissioner Jacobs said something went from the OUTBoard directly to the <br /> Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) agenda, without the Board or the Town of Carrboro <br /> seeing it first, and this process should be improved. <br /> Commissioner Jacobs reviewed the Deficiency Analysis PowerPoint at the <br /> Commissioners' places, which looks at the changes between now and 2045. He said page 14 <br /> refers to regional travel times and is particularly interesting. He said alternatives are being <br /> studied, such as managed motorways or smart highways, which the MPO will be studying. <br /> Commissioner Rich said the one-year celebration of the Cedar Grove Community <br /> Center was held this past Saturday. <br /> Commissioner Burroughs said she had no comments. <br /> Commissioner Price asked if the agenda review committee could find a creative <br /> process to get advisory chair reports to the Board of County Commissioners. She said this <br /> does not have to be a long report, and could be more akin to a flyer or a poster. <br /> Commissioner Price said the Raise the Age Bill has been placed in the budget, and <br /> there may be some legislators who support the bill but do not support the budget. She said <br /> this is unfortunate. <br /> Commissioner Price said the youth representative at the NCACC annual conference <br /> will be Zachary Sellers from Orange High School. <br /> Commissioner Marcoplos said he had no comments. <br /> Chair Dorosin said to add Commissioner Price's request to the advisory board work <br /> session in the fall. <br /> Chair Dorosin asked if there was any opposition from the Board in authorizing Steve <br /> Brantley and Bonnie Hammersley to proceed with Commissioner Jacobs' request regarding the <br /> analysis of HB 795. <br /> There was no opposition from the Board. <br /> Chair Dorosin instructed Steve Brantley and Bonnie Hammersley to proceed. <br /> Chair Dorosin asked if there could be greater clarification regarding the communication <br /> process between the OUTBoard and MPO. <br />
