Box 8181 <br />Hillsborough, NC 27278 <br />Aeaz Comrrussioner Jacobs: <br />As you aze aware, the Town Council is very interested in developing a Small Area Plan for the <br />Rogers Road neighborhood, We would like to inform ycu of recent action taken by the Council <br />regazding the Rogers Road neighborhood and invite you to join us in planning for this area, At its <br />Planning Session on January 12, 2006, the Council continued to include the Rogers Road Small <br />Area Plan as one of its highest priorities for 2006, The .Council also encouraged amulti- <br />jurisdictionai approach to complete a Small Area Plan for this neighborhood that would take no <br />more than 18 months to complete. <br />Council Members agreed to ask elected officials from Carrboro and Orange County to participate <br />in a multi jurisdictional approach for development of a Small Area Plan. At its Planning Session, <br />the Council suggested forming a Committee of elected officials to develop a proposed process for <br />completing a Small Area Plan. It was suggested that a Committee could also discuss participants <br />in the process and joint staff work. On January 23, 2006, Council Members Strom and <br />Kleinschmidt were appointed by the Council to initiate discussions regarding this process, A copy <br />of the January 23, 2006 Memorandum is attached. <br />We ask that the Orange County Commissioners consider participating in a multi jurisdictional <br />process for a Rogers Road Small Area Plan, We also ask that the Board consider appointing a <br />representative(s) to a Committee of elected officials to discuss a process, Our hope is that the <br />discussions would take place in the coming months so that planning work could begin in July <br />2006. <br />Thank you for your consideration, <br />Sincerely, <br />r'~ <br />r' <br />~' <br />Kevin C.
