7
ORANGE COUNTY
NORTH A LI A
ANIMAL SERVICES
1601 Eubanks Road http://orangecountync.gov/departments/animalservices phone: (919)942-7387
Chapel Hill, NC 27516 fax: (919)918-2393
Memorandum
August 28, 2017
To: Donna Baker, Clerk to Board of County Commissioner s
From: Bob Marotta Animal Services Director
Re: Recommendation of Position Change in Animal Services Hearing Panel Pool
As the Board of County Commissioners proceeds to fill vacancies within the Animal Services Hearing
Panel Pool, I wanted to recommend a change in the location of one of the current members of that
body. Specially, I believe it would be prudent to move Marcia Adams from her current at large position
to the vacant position for someone with experience in the field of public safety because there are many
more candidates for the former position.
Ms.Adams fits the description of someone with an experience in the field of public safety very well. Her
work experience was in emergency services and emergency management. Known for her dedication to
the field, she became a Sargent in Orange County Emergency Services. She served as a paramedic with
Quick Response Vehicles and also worked closely with ambulance personnel on higher acuity calls.
I would also note that Animal Services staff has reached out to local law enforcement agencies in Orange
County for the name of other potential candidates for the public safety position in the pool. We have
received several referrals and had conversations with a few interested persons but so far we have not
received any applications.
I would be glad to respond to any questions from your office.
Cc: Andi Morgan,Assistant Animal Services Director
Thom Freeman,Assistant to the Clerk, Board of County Commissioners
