Corley Redfoot Zack, Inc January, 2006 41 <br />Partnership Academy Alternative School <br />11, Forest Resources: <br />A hardwood forest is located at the new building site. Existing trees designated to <br />remain will be protected during construction by the tree protection fencing which will <br />be installed prior to any site clearing. <br />12. Shellfish or Fish and Their Habitats: <br />There is a tributary of Stony Creek which runs from the west to the north side of the <br />property. No new work wil be done in the stream area. <br />13. Wildlife and Natural Vegetation: <br />This site was reviewed for according to the endan gered plant and animal species lists <br />as provided by the North Carolina Natural Heritage Program.. No endangered species <br />were found. Existing wildlife consists of the deer, squirrels and other species <br />typically seen in a hardwood forest. Typical avian species are also present in the <br />forested area. <br />E. Predicted Environmental Effects of Project: <br />Topogjrjphy: <br />The topography of the site will be reworked in the building and parking lot areas <br />only during the project development.. The new slopes around the parking lots and <br />buildings will not exceed 5 %. The site will be leveled for the building pad and <br />parking area, and then an embankment will be created to meet existing grades at the <br />north and east sides of the existing forest. <br />2. Soils: <br />Soils that are disturbed or moved during the grading operations will be primarily <br />used in backfilling within the site. The construction process will not contaminate the <br />soils. <br />3. Land Use <br />The new Partnership Academy Alternative School will be located adjacent to Storey <br />Lane and the construction will only disturb 1.4 acres of the 20,8 -acre site. The project <br />is consistent with the Orange County Zoning Ordinance and with land usage in the <br />area. <br />4. Wetlands: No work will take place within the jurisdiction of any Wetland areas, as <br />determined on the site by the December 23, 2005, report by Trigon Engineering <br />Consultants, Inc.. <br />5. Prime or Unique Agricultural Lands: This project will not impact any prime farmland. <br />6. Public Lands Scenic and Recreational Areas: There will be no impacts on public <br />lands or State scenic, recreational or natural areas. <br />7. Areas of Archeological or Historical Value: There will be no adverse effect on historic <br />properties or archaeological resources that are either eligible for or included on the <br />National Register of Historic Places, <br />
