2 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> PREPAREDNESS MONTH <br /> 2017 <br /> PROCLAMATION <br /> WHEREAS, the Federal Emergency Management Agency has designated September as National <br /> Preparedness Month across the United States; and <br /> WHEREAS, National Preparedness Month is an opportunity to raise awareness on the <br /> importance of emergency preparedness and to encourage all Americans to better prepare their <br /> homes and communities for all hazards, and <br /> WHEREAS, the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Ready Campaign, Citizen Corps, <br /> and other federal, state, local, tribal, territorial, private, and volunteer agencies are working to <br /> increase public activities in preparing for emergencies and to educate individuals on how to take <br /> action; and <br /> WHEREAS, emergency preparedness is the responsibility of every Orange County resident, and <br /> all residents are urged to make preparedness a priority and work together, as a team, to ensure <br /> that individuals, families, and communities are prepared for disasters and emergencies of any <br /> type; and <br /> WHEREAS, all residents of Orange County are encouraged to participate in citizen preparedness <br /> activities and asked to visit the websites of the Ready campaign at Ready.gov or Listo.gov (in <br /> Spanish) and become more prepared; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, we, the Orange County Board of Commissioners, do hereby proclaim <br /> September, 2017, as "Preparedness Month" in Orange County, and encourage all residents and <br /> businesses to develop their own emergency preparedness plan, and work together toward <br /> creating a more prepared community. <br /> This, the 5th Day of September, 2017. <br /> Mark Dorosin, Chair <br /> Orange County Board of Commissioners <br /> ATTEST: COUNTY SEAL <br /> Donna Baker <br /> Clerk to the Board <br />
