5
Attachment 2
DRAFT
September 6, 2017
Pam Hemminger, Mayor
Town of Chapel Hill
405 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd
Chapel Hill, 27514
Dear Mayor Hemminger,
This letter is to follow up on our correspondence in July regarding the Town's interest in
extending its Extraterritorial Jurisdictional Boundary (ETJ) over three assemblages of land,
totaling 184.9 acres, in the northern portions of the Town. The Board of County Commissioners
considered this topic at its September 5, 2017 meeting and the Board is in support of the Town
moving forward on setting a public hearing for extension of the ETJ.
Approximately 119 acres of this area, in the Millhouse Road vicinity, is currently outside of the
Water and Sewer Management, Planning, and Boundary Agreement (WASMPBA) Primary
Service Area. Staffs of the five signatory parties will be coordinating to determine a schedule for
the governing bodies to consider amending the primary service area boundary to allow these
acreages to be served by public water and sewer systems.
In struggle,
Mark Dorosin, Chair
Orange County Board of Commissioners
cc: Roger L. Stancil, Town Manager
