ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br />Meeting Date: April 10, 2006 <br />Action Age <br />Item No. <br />SUBJECT: Community Advisory Committee Appreciation Day -April 26, 2006 <br />DEPARTMENT: Aging, Nursing Home and PUBLIC HEARING: (Y/N) No <br />Adult Care Home Advisory <br />Committees (CACs) <br />ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Proclamation Jill Passmore, LTC Ombudsman, 423-1444 <br />03/11 /06 Letter to BOCC Jerry Passmore, 245-2009 <br />Laura DeLoye, Chair, Adult Care Home CAC <br />Mary Ann Peter, Chair, Nursing Home CAC <br />PURPOSE: To consider approving a proclamation to show appreciation to the members <br />of the Orange County Nursing Home and Adult Care Home Community Advisory <br />Committees for their advocacy efforts on behalf of the County's long term care residents, <br />BACKGROUND: Nursing Home and Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committees, <br />whose members are appointed by the BOCC, serve as grassroots ombudsmen and <br />advocate for the rights of long term care residents, as well as the physical, mental, <br />emotional, and spiritual well-being of these residents, Over 900 residents reside in nursing <br />homes and adult care homes in Orange County, <br />The Triangle J Area Agency on Aging Ombudsman Program is holding a Community <br />Advisory Committee Education and Appreciation Day for the dedicated volunteers of <br />Orange County (and other counties in the Triangle J region) on April 26, 2006, at the Friday <br />Center. A copy of the proclamation of appreciation will be given to each member of the <br />Community Advisory Committees. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: None. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the <br />proclamation designating the day of April 26, 2006 as Community Advisory Committee <br />Appreciation Day in Orange County and authorize the Chair to sign the proclamation, <br />
