<br />clients for Public Assistance programs, This budget amendment provides for the <br />receipt of these funds, and brings the budget for this program to $18,95.5 for fiscal <br />year 2005-06 (See Attachment 1, column #1) <br />c, Work First -this additional State allocation of TANF Work First funds totaling $2,799 <br />will be used to expand services to Work First clients through an increased number of <br />employee related workshops and other skill building activities, This budget <br />amendment provides for the receipt of these funds, and brings the budget for this <br />program to $1,548,033 for fiscal year 2005-06. (See Attachment 1, column #1) <br />d, Child Care CCDF Administration -these additional funds of $2,449 will be used for <br />temporary staff to cover the increased workload for this program, This budget <br />amendment provides for the receipt of these funds, and brings the budget for this <br />program to $151,489 for fiscal year 2005-06. (See Attachment 1, column #1) <br />Health Department <br />2. At its March 2, 2006 meeting, the Board of County Commissioners approved acceptance of <br />reallocated State funds totaling $21,059 for public health preparedness, These funds will be <br />used to purchase 12 handheld computers and 2 laptops equipped with Geographic <br />Information System/Global Positioning Satellite (GIS/GPS) software. Six (6) of the <br />handhelds and the laptops will be assigned to Environmental Health Specialists for use in <br />the field an a daily basis. The units will enable field staff to locate and plot wells and septic <br />systems using real time GPS data. The remaining six (6) handheld units will be utilized to <br />train staff in order that the units may be used efficiently during outbreak situations, All <br />equipment is subject to being "called in" if needed during an outbreak or a public health <br />emergency. This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these reallocated State <br />funds, (See Attachment 1, column #2) <br />3. The Health Department has received notification from the North Carolina Division of Public <br />Health of additional finds for the current fiscal year for the following programs: <br />a. Healthy Carolinians Program -these additional Healthy Carolinians grant funds of <br />$7,000 for the current fiscal year must be spent by May 31, 2006, and will be used to <br />purchase supplies to support the marketing goals of the Healthy Carolinians Program. <br />This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these additional funds. (See <br />Attachment 1, column #3, and Attachment 3, Healthy Caroiinians Program Grant <br />Project Ordinance) <br />b, Family Planning -these additional funds totaling $3,419, represents $1,904 in <br />additional Title X funds based on an increased caseload of family planning patients, <br />and $1,515 in additional funds given by the State to counties providing the greatest <br />assistance to Hurricane Katrina evacuees. Orange County is one of 12 counties in <br />the State receiving these additional funds, These funds will be used for the purchase <br />of contraceptives and other supplies needed to provide family planning services. <br />(See Attachment 1, column #4) <br />
