ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br />Meeting Date: March2l, 2006 <br />Action Agenda <br />Item No. 9- e.~- <br />SUBJECT: Equalization and Review Board-New Appointments <br />DEPARTMENT: Board of Commissioners PUBLIC HEARING: (Y/N) No <br />ATTACHMENT(S): Under Separate Cover <br />Membership Roster <br />Interest List <br />Application(s)/Resume(s) of Person(s) on the <br />Interest List <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Clerk's OfFice, 245-2130 <br />PURPOSE: Consider making appointments to the Equalization and Review Board, <br />BACKGROUND: Pursuant to N,C,G,S. 105-322, a Special Board of Equalization and Review <br />was created by a Resolution adopted by the Orange County Board of Commissioners on <br />January 24, 2005, The Clerk's office has advertised and recruitment has also been done by the <br />Tax Assessor's office, with several applications received, The Orange County Special Board of <br />Equalization and Review shall consist of three regular members plus alternate members, each <br />to serve for a term in accordance with G.S, 105-322. One regular member shall serve as chair <br />of the Board of Equalization and Review. <br />The following applicant would like to be considered for member positions only; Margaret Brown. <br />The following applicants wish to be considered for alternate positions only; Bill Crowther, Tom <br />Heffner, Paul Snow, Tim Kepley, and Claire Williams, Pam Davis does not wish to be <br />chairperson. <br />FINANCIAL. IMPACT: Each member will be paid $75.00 for each meeting they attend, and <br />the chair will be paid $100,00 for each meeting attended. The funds are included in the Tax <br />Assessor's budget. <br />RECOMMENDATION (S): Appoint three regular members, and the remaining applicants as <br />alternate members, on the Special Board of Equalization and Review, all with terms ending with <br />the appointment of a new Special Board of Equalization and Review; and appoint one regular <br />member to be the Chair of the Special Board of Equalization and Review, <br />
