Overview <br /> Provide a one-paragraph description of your practicum that includes the purpose of the practicum and its major activities. <br /> This practicum will contribute to the goals of the Orange County Department on Aging by generating <br /> information and recommendations regarding how to connect Orange County older adults who are seeking <br /> paid employment with a diverse array of opportunities. The primary focus of the practicum will be developing <br /> a comprehensive program plan, which will inform the new Orange County Older Adult Employment <br /> Collaborative and the Orange County Department on Aging on best practices and action steps for senior civic <br /> participation and employment. The program plan will include a list of best practices, a resource list of services <br /> already existing in Orange County, action steps for moving forward, and an implementation timeline. In <br /> addition, through collaboration with key stakeholders, community members, and the Orange County <br /> Department on Aging staff, I will develop a focus group interview guide and lead 2 focus groups regarding <br /> senior employment needs. The results of the focus groups will support recommendations and action items <br /> listed in the program plan. Lastly, a presentation of preliminary findings will be given to the Orange County <br /> Advisory Board on Aging. <br /> D. Learning Objectives <br /> Please list at least three S.M.A.R.T. learning objectives for the practicum that address Association of Schools and Programs of Public <br /> Health Social and Behavioral Sciences competencies and/or Council on Education for Public Health Foundational competencies(HBEH <br /> 746 Syllabus,Appendix A). <br /> By the end of the practicum, Megan Peters will: <br /> 1. Expand qualitative research skills through creating an interview guide, conducting focus groups, and <br /> summarizing findings in a qualitative research reports. <br /> 2. Develop programmatic planning skills through the creation of a program plan with best practices, <br /> action steps, and implementation timelines for the Orange County Department on Aging to use for <br /> creating effective pathways for older adults to secure employment. <br /> 3. Improve presentation skills by effectively communicating findings from key stakeholder meetings, <br /> focus groups, and research on older adult senior employment to the Orange county Advisory Board on <br /> Aging. <br /> E. Work Plan <br /> For each deliverable(i.e., tangible product)that the practicum student is expected to produce,please use the template table below to <br /> explain its purpose(i.e., why it is being produced), intended audience(i.e., who will use it),format(i.e., expected document style and <br /> length), the steps the student will take to produce the deliverable, and the dates associated with the deliverable steps. <br /> Deliverable 1: Older Adult Employment Program Plan <br /> Purpose: To develop a program plan outlining best practices, action steps and an implementation <br /> timeline on methods for connecting older adults to paid employment or meaningful volunteer <br /> experience. <br /> Intended Audience: Orange County Department on Aging, newly formed Orange County Older Adult <br /> Employment Collaborative, Orange County Advisory Board on Aging, Orange County Board of <br /> Commissioners, and Orange County community <br /> Format: 10-20 page program plan with action steps and implementation timeline <br /> Steps Expected Completion Date <br /> 1.
