2 <br /> The fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race or <br /> color; religious or philosophical beliefs; sex, gender or sexual orientation; national <br /> origin or ethnic background; age; military service; disability; and familial, residential <br /> or economic status. <br /> Economic Development —Visitors Bureau <br /> 2. The Visitors Bureau has received notification of the receipt of$250 from the <br /> Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority for attendance at the North American Travel <br /> Journalists 2017 Annual Conference Marketplace which is sponsored by the Visitors <br /> Bureau. This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these funds. (See <br /> Attachment 1, column 2) <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goal is <br /> applicable to this agenda item: <br /> • GOAL: ENSURE ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY <br /> The creation and preservation of infrastructure, policies, programs and funding <br /> necessary for residents to provide shelter, food, clothing and medical care for <br /> themselves and their dependents. <br /> Animal Services Department <br /> 3. The Animal Services Department has received the following additional revenues: <br /> • State of North Carolina — Division of Emergency Management — The <br /> Animal Services Department has received notification of the receipt of $8,257 <br /> from the State of North Carolina, Division of Emergency Management, for the <br /> reimbursement of expenses incurred as a result of the Hurricane Matthew relief <br /> efforts in Kinston, North Carolina. These funds will be used to reimburse actual <br /> expenses that the County incurred as a result of the disaster relief assistance. <br /> • Community Giving Fund — the Animal Services Department has received <br /> donations in the amount of $2,000 for use within the department. The Animal <br /> Services Department will use these funds to purchase Canine Influenza (Dog <br /> Flu) vaccines for the dogs of departmental staff and volunteers as a means of <br /> negating/minimizing the effect of the dog flu outbreak on the animals within the <br /> shelter and the pets of the departmental staff/volunteers. <br /> This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these funds. (See Attachment <br /> 1, column 3) <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: There are no Orange County Social Justice Goals <br /> associated with this item. <br /> Miscellaneous <br /> 4. The FY 2016-17 Board of Commissioners' Approved Budget included funds of up to <br /> $1,971,500 for a Wage Increase of 2.0%, effective July 1, 2016, and 1% effective <br /> January 1, 2017, as well as an employee performance award of either $500, $750, or <br /> $1,000, effective with Work Planning and Performance Review (WPPR) dates from July <br /> 1, 2016 to June 30, 2017. This budget amendment provides for the actual allocation of <br /> $1,870,538 within departments to cover the Wage Increase and performance awards in <br /> FY 2015-17. (See Attachment 1, column 4) <br />
