1 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br /> Meeting Date: June 20, 2017 <br /> Action Agenda <br /> Item No. 4-a <br /> SUBJECT: Proclamation Recognizing Orange High School Softball Team Winning the <br /> 2017 State Championship <br /> DEPARTMENT: BOCC <br /> ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: <br /> Proclamation <br /> Donna Baker, Clerk to the Orange County <br /> Board of Commissioners, (919) 245- <br /> 2130 <br /> PURPOSE: To consider a proclamation recognizing the Orange High School Softball Team for <br /> winning the 2017 State Championship. <br /> BACKGROUND: On June 3, 2017, Orange High School's Softball Team captured the North <br /> Carolina High School Athletic Association's (NCHSAA) 3A State Softball Championship. <br /> Under the guidance of Coach Eddie Davidson, Orange High School's Softball Team earned its <br /> first NCHSAA State title, the first state championship by a female team in Orange High history. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact associated with consideration of this <br /> proclamation. <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: There are no Orange County Social Justice goals applicable to <br /> this item. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the attached <br /> proclamation recognizing Orange High School's Softball Team for winning the 2017 State <br /> Championship and authorize the Chair to sign the proclamation on behalf of the Board. <br />
