SCS' Sustainable Materials Management(SMM)
practice, which includes a diverse array of engineering and consulting assignments related to
solid waste and recyclable materials management projects, has already benefited the County
through SCS' previous work with Department. Our SMM practice encompasses work related
to solid waste planning, recycling programs, residential and commercial collections, transfer
stations, composting, materials recovery facilities (MRFs), waste characterizations,
alternative disposal technologies, and much more. SCS understands the importance of waste
reduction and recycling to the County, and is prepared to help the County achieve its goals
related to solid waste and recyclable materials.
SCS has built strong relationships with NCDEQ
SCS has a good reputation and rapport with the North Carolina Department of
Environmental Quality, which will be helpful in responding to their technical comments
and compliance inspections.
SCS is a full-service"one-stop" shop
SCS has resources and capabilities to perform all of the services included in the RFQ and
has past experience, as well as current assignments, performing all of these services for
public-sector solid waste management facilities and programs. In addition to traditional
landfill and landfill gas engineering services, SCS personnel are also experienced in
groundwater monitoring, C&D landfill engineering, site assessment, master planning,
transfer station engineering, convenience center design, solid waste strategic planning,
financial modeling, program efficiency, compost planning, recycling operations,
collections studies, waste-to-energy, and more.
Thank you for taking the time to review our submittal. We trust it communicates our excitement
regarding this opportunity and hope that you will find our firm the best suited for continuing to
serve the County on upcoming project assignments.
