1 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br /> Meeting Date: June 6, 2017 <br /> Action Agenda <br /> Item No. 11-c <br /> SUBJECT: Carrboro Board of Adjustment - Appointment <br /> DEPARTMENT: Board of Commissioners <br /> ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: <br /> Membership Roster Clerk's Office, 919-245-2130 <br /> Recommendation <br /> Application for Person Recommended <br /> Applicant Interest List <br /> Application of Person on the Interest List <br /> PURPOSE: To consider making an appointment to the Carrboro Board of Adjustment. <br /> BACKGROUND: The following information is for Board consideration: <br /> • Appointment to a first full term (Position #2) "Transition Area" representative (Given the <br /> length of time that this position has been vacant, since 2013, the Carrboro <br /> Alderman are exercising the "90 day rule" and requesting that a resident of the <br /> Town of Carrboro be appointed) for Wil Heflin expiring 02/28/2019. <br /> POSITION NAME SPECIAL REPRESENTATIVE EXPIRATION DATE <br /> NO. <br /> 2 Wil Heflin Town of Carrboro (position 02/28/2019 <br /> formerly Transition Area) <br /> NOTE - If the individuals listed above are appointed, the following vacancies remain: <br /> • *Position #1--- "Extraterritorial Transition Jurisdiction" position expiring 02/28/2020. <br /> This position has been vacant since 2013. PSA's have been sent out repeatedly <br /> without success. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: None <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: Enable Full Civic Participation. Ensure that Orange County <br /> residents are able to engage government through voting and volunteering by eliminating <br /> disparities in participation and barriers to participation. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board consider making an <br /> appointment to the Carrboro Board of Adjustment. <br />
