Combined with new <br /> 10 programming, Field House operations to generate $7,200,000 incremental revenues <br /> 11 over the first six years. <br /> 12 • By leveraging RFP staff/management resources, combined six year operating surplus of <br /> 13 $3,754,000 will reimburse the appropriated costs. <br /> 14 • Synergies with existing operations will facilitate the combined annual operating <br /> 15 surpluses of$1.4 million, which can be re-invested in countywide wellness and <br /> 16 recreation. <br /> 17 <br /> 18 John Stock, Sportsplex General Manager, introduced the company that will be building <br /> 19 the Fieldhouse: TA Loving. <br /> 20 Ken Redfoot, Architect, presented this portion of the PowerPoint, and reviewed the <br /> 21 plans for the Field House. <br /> 22 Commissioner Rich asked if there will be spaces for bicycle parking. <br /> 23 Ken Redfoot said the Hillsborough approval process has just begun, and more details <br /> 24 will be incorporated going forward. He said bicycle parking can be accommodated. <br /> 25 Commissioner Rich asked if there is bicycle parking at the current facility. <br /> 26 John Stock said no, and staff is investigating costs for bicycle parking. <br /> 27 Commissioner Rich asked to find out if this is part of the Hillsborough guidelines, so that <br /> 28 bicycle parking can be included. <br /> 29 Commissioner Jacobs asked if the size of the basketball courts in the gymnasium could <br /> 30 be given. <br /> 31 Ken Redfoot said the courts are 50 x 84 feet, which is regulation high school court size. <br /> 32 Commissioner Jacobs asked if any thought has been given to using solar or geothermal <br /> 33 technology for this new facility, or retrofitting the existing facility. <br /> 34 Jeff Thompson said staff is analyzing retrofitting the building with the high performance <br /> 35 building standards analysis, and the size of the facility makes it challenging from a cost <br /> 36 standpoint. <br /> 37 Commissioner McKee referred to the 54-space parking lot, and asked if, given heavy <br /> 38 use of the current parking lot and the expansion numbers, parking will be expanded or a <br /> 39 parking deck considered. <br /> 40 John Stock said a parking study was completed a year ago, and maximum capacity was <br /> 41 only reached when large meets or events are occurring. He said staff has changed the nature <br /> 42 of these meets to allow for easier flow. He said the study was repeated again recently and <br /> 43 there was only a 10% increase in numbers with the maximum still not being reached. He said if <br /> 44 growth continues at its current rate, then parking will be an issue. <br /> 45 Commissioner McKee said increased public transportation may help. He said any <br /> 46 improvements only drives more people to want to use this facility, and the mode of <br /> 47 transportation will be automobiles. He said he is glad that staff has done parking studies. <br /> 48 Commissioner Jacobs thanked John Stock for the good work that he is doing and his <br /> 49 willingness to work with the County. <br />
