Ingram, Executive Dean for Orange County Operations, <br /> 34 Penny Glick <br /> 35 <br /> 36 Chair Dorosin called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. <br /> 37 <br /> 38 Welcome and Opening Remarks <br /> 39 Rani Dasi said that James Barrett was out of town, and not available to attend tonight. <br /> 40 Rani Dasi thanked the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) for its willingness to <br /> 41 meet, and introduced the new Superintendent of Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools (CHCCS), <br /> 42 Dr. Pamela Baldwin. <br /> 43 Rani Dasi thanked Todd LoFrese and staff for their work on this year's budget. <br /> 44 Rani Dasi listed CHCCS priorities for this year: equity, mental health, fiscal <br /> 45 management, investment in teachers and staff, community partnerships, and facility <br /> 46 improvements. She said as CHCCS focuses its efforts, it faces two issues: state education <br /> 47 funding changes and structural changes in the district. She said the current state education <br /> 48 funding levels, including inflation, are lower than the amount provided in 2008, although the <br /> 49 number of students has increased. She said this decline in state support puts an increased <br /> 50 burden on local governments. She said CHCCS is continually grateful for the support of the <br />
