ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />RESOLUTION TO RECOGNIZE BOB HALL <br />FOR COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT AND POLITICAL REFORM AND OVERSIGHT <br />WHEREAS, Bob Hall has served the citizens of Orange County and the State of North Carolina <br />through his political activism and volunteer efforts; and <br />WHEREAS, he was a civil rights activist during a time of social turmoil fighting racism on the <br />front lines; and <br />WHEREAS, Bob Hall was the founding editor of Southern Exposure magazine examining <br />culture and politics in the South; and <br />WHEREAS, he has served through appointment by the Orange County Board of Commissioners <br />on the Economic Development Commission, including serving as Chair, the Jury <br />Commission, and the Comprehensive Plan Land Use Committee; and <br />WHEREAS, in the best progressive tradition of Orange County, Bob Hall has charged forward <br />as a crusader to transform campaign financing rules for candidates for public office; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, while serving as Executive Director and Research Director of Democracy North <br />Carolina, Bob Hall has focused on electoral refornl and the pernicious influence of <br />money in politics; and <br />WHEREAS, as a campaign watchdog, he has demonstrated his passion to reform money-driven <br />politics and the role ofspecial-interest money from hog farming to road building; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Orange County Board of Commissioners does <br />hereby recognize Bob Hall and acknowledge his hard work and endless hours of <br />research in pursuing campaign finance reform for North Carolina and volunteering <br />to serve the people of Orange County and the entire State of North Carolina.. <br />This the 2"`~ day ofMarch 2006, <br />Barry Jacobs -Chair <br />Orange County Board of Commissioners <br />
