ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br />Meeting Date: March 2, 2006 <br />Action Agenda <br />Item No. 5-n <br />SUBJECT: Eno River Confluence <br />DEPARTMENT: <br />PUBLIC HEARING: (Y/N) No <br />ATTACHMENT(S): <br />Draft Agenda for Meeting <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Donna Baker, 245-2130 <br />PURPOSE: The Board will consider hosting the Eno River Confluence, on Tuesday, April 11, <br />2006, from 9:OOam - 2:OOpm at the Big Barn in Hillsborough, <br />BACKGROUND: The Eno River Confluence will be a summit to bring together all parties <br />interested in the preservation and protection of the Eno River, its watershed, and its tributaries <br />far environmental, economic, public safety and aesthetic reasons. Subsequent to this meeting, <br />small working groups will be established to discuss in depth the issues of interest, with the <br />intention that all participants will reassemble in the fall to consider their findings and <br />recommendations. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: The cost to rent the Big Barn Facility is $500 ($400 for rental and $100 <br />for deposit). The cost to provide lunch for up to 40 attendees will be approximately $500-$600 <br />(based on the Barbeque Joint's menu - $9.99/person plus beverage/dessert). It is proposed to <br />use funds from the BOCC Contingency Fund and there is $14,000 remaining in the BOCC <br />Contingency account for FY 2005-06. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board host the Eno River <br />Confluence, on Tuesday, April 11, 2006, from 9:OOam - 2:OOpm at the Big Barn in Hillsborough <br />and to use funds from the BOCC Contingency Fund for rental of facility and providing lunch for <br />attendees. <br />
