3 <br /> Orange County facilities are accessible and its leaders and staff are committed to maintaining <br /> the highest level of accessibility for its facilities, consistently exceeding the applicable standards <br /> of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Although this comprehensive self-assessment of <br /> facility accessibility has identified issues, Orange County maintains its accessibility by <br /> establishing and following a plan to address them. <br /> At the request of the Board of Orange County Commissioners (BOCC), <br /> 46 facilities and 5.1 miles of sidewalks have been assessed on a set of�iliur <br /> more than 50 accessibility criteria. This Facilities Accessibility Self- Action Item #Items <br /> Assessment was designed and conducted in partnership with the Category Identified <br /> Orange County Human Relations Commission, the Disability Counter 9 <br /> Awareness Council, several disabled volunteers, and many dedicated Door 17 <br /> County staff. Assessments took place over more than a year's time Fountain 2 <br /> from June 2, 2015 to December 1' 2016, and in the end 210 action Parking 15 <br /> items were identified (see Table 1) along with several best practices Accessible 36 <br /> across County Departments. The primary source of the identified Route <br /> obstacles is the daily use of County facilities over time. Install 119 108 <br /> Repair or 30 23 <br /> Of the total action items, 119 (57%) required the Replace <br /> purchase and installation of a missing fixture. Beyond Project 61 36 <br /> those items, 30 action items (14%) required repair or Total 210 167 <br /> replacement of a misaligned feature or outdated aiiiir <br /> fixture. Finally, 61 action items (29%) required a <br /> more coordinated or complex project to fix (see Secomdaryi'athway #Items Still in <br /> Table 2). All remaining action items are Missing Raimlp/Curb ramp 3 2 <br /> lower in priority, and they will be addressed in Missing Sidewalk segment 1 0 <br /> order while improvements to ongoing preventive Total 20 8 <br /> maintenance procedures will help avoid future <br /> accessibility issues. <br /> The delivery of this assessment report was postponed until May 2017 to allow time to address <br /> findings from the County sidewalk accessibility assessment (see Table 3)which was finalized at <br /> the end of 2016. Further efforts and investments are recommended to continually improve the <br /> accessibility of County's facilities, documents, technology, and programs. <br /> 2 <br />
