(Trigon) is pleased to provide this report of the survey for wetlands
at the referenced site. This report summarizes our field methods, observations, and conclusions.
BACKGROUND
The 20.8 acre site is located north of Storey Lane and east of NC 86 in Orange County, North Carolina
(Figure 1).. The property primarily consists of mixed hardwood and coniferous woodlands.. A small
stream channel crosses the western portion of the property flowing into a pond at the northern property
boundary. Figure 2 is a site survey drawing which shows the location of the pond and stream as well as
the property limits and topography at the site. Figure 3 is a satellite image showing the general site
conditions.
WETLANDS
The site was visited on December 20, 2005 for the purpose of identifying conditions supporting wetlands
within the property boundaries. The methodology used to identify areas suspected of having conditions
to support wetlands included walking the suspected areas to observe existing vegetation, soil
characteristics, and hydrology.
Wetlands are defined by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the United States Environmental
Protection Agency as "those areas that are inundated or saturated by surface or groundwater at a
frequency and duration sufficient to support, and under normal circumstances, do support a prevalence of
vegetation typically adapted for life in saturated soil conditions." In order for an area to be classified as
wetlands, hydrophytic vegetation, hydric soils, and wetlands hydrology indicators must be present.
Thank you for our Success.
