Corley Redfoot Zack, Inc . January, 2006
Partnership Academy Alternative School
8 Air Ouali!y:
The project will generate small quantities of fugitive dust and emissions from the
construction equipment, These minor and transitory sources are expected to have no
impact on offsite air quality. Open burning is not permitted.
9. Noise Levels:
The primary sources of noise in the project's vicinity are suburban highway noises
and the sounds from the adjacent middle school. The project will not substantially
increase noise levels on adjacent property. Noise levels at the project's boundaries are
minimized by the large undisturbed natural buffers to the Northeast and West of the
property.
10. Water Resources:
Although there are no water resources within the new sitework, construction activities
may indirectly impact water resources located downstream. Impacts to the tributary
to Stony Creek will be minimized by utilizing Best Management Practices for
protection of surface water and erosion control features shown on the construction
plan. Strict erosion and sedimintation controls must be maintained during
construction of the project. ,
Permanent construction impacts include reduced infiltration and increased runoff as a
result of additional areas of impervious surface, as well as soil compaction from
construction activities. The use of engineered post- construction Best Management
Practices and landscaping will minimize this permanent impact. Best Management
Practices used on this project include bioretention areas, grass swales and level
spreaders, etc. (see Exhibit #4),
11. Forest Resources: Forest resources will not be significantly impacted by this project
due to the limited area of disturbance, i.e., only 1.4 acres out of the 20.8 acre site.
12. Shellfish or Fish and Their Habitats:
Shellfish or fish habitats will not be impacted directly.
13. Wildlife and Natural Vegetation:
There will be no effects on federally protected, threatened or endangered species, or
on federal species of concern.
14. Introduction of Toxic Substances:
No toxic substances will be introduced by the construction activities on the project..
F. Mitigative Measures:
Water Resources:
During construction of the facilities, minor silt runoff is anticipated; however, the
runoff will be mitigated through the use of an approved Sediment Erosion Control
Plan. Both the quality and quantity of post - construction stormwater runoff resulting
7
41
