ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS PUBLIC HEARING AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT Meeting Date: February 27, 2006 PURPOSE: BOCC to hear Planning Board and Administration recommendations, to receive evidence and public comments regarding the Class A Special Use Permit application for the Partnership Academy Alternative School for Orange County. BACKGROUND: On February 3, 2004 the BOCC adopted a text amendment requiring that all schools, public and private, obtain a Class A Special Use Permit prior to commencing construction activities for a proposed school. This is the second school to follow the new ordinance, The Middle School #3 on West Ten Road was the first, Procedure: The Zoning Ordinance requires that the Planning Staff make a recommendation to the Planning Board on all Class A Special Use Permit applications, After receiving the Staff recommendation the Planning Board makes its own recommendation to the Board of County Commissioners who hold a public hearing. The Planning Board recommendation is not conducted in a public hearing forum.
