ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />PUBLIC HEARING AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br />Meeting Date: February 27, 2006 <br />PURPOSE: BOCC to hear Planning Board and Administration recommendations, to receive <br />evidence and public comments regarding the Class A Special Use Permit application for the <br />Partnership Academy Alternative School for Orange County. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On February 3, 2004 the BOCC adopted a text amendment requiring that all schools, public and <br />private, obtain a Class A Special Use Permit prior to commencing construction activities for a <br />proposed school. This is the second school to follow the new ordinance, The Middle School #3 <br />on West Ten Road was the first, <br />Procedure: <br />The Zoning Ordinance requires that the Planning Staff make a recommendation to the Planning <br />Board on all Class A Special Use Permit applications, After receiving the Staff recommendation <br />the Planning Board makes its own recommendation to the Board of County Commissioners who <br />hold a public hearing. The Planning Board recommendation is not conducted in a public <br />hearing forum.
