also used the shared community room over time for public meetings, training sessions and <br />departmental meetings. <br />In the recent past, Emergency Management has used the larger office on site for occasional <br />overflow capacity to meet their operational requirements, Now that the County has acquired the <br />Tweeter Building, preliminary planning indicates that the need for dedicated County space at <br />the Policing Center may be considerably lessened and pending final review by the Space <br />Needs Committee (Commissioners .Jacobs and Halkiotis serve as BOCC representatives), the <br />opportunity may exist to release any/all County space to address needs raised by the Town. <br />The Boards will likely want to discuss any interests in this possibility, A floor plan far the Center <br />is attached, <br />Attachment 1-e -Community Policing Center Floor Plan <br />f) Habitat for Humanity Project <br />The Affordable Housing Band Project Review Committee (County Commissioner Valerie <br />Faushee serves as BOCC representative) has met to review a "pre-application" request from <br />Habitat far Humanity, Habitat plans to request $116,250 in bond funds to cover 75% of the <br />purchase price for ten lots in the Fairview neighborhood of Hillsborough. The remaining funding <br />will come from private sources, It is anticipated that closing nn the lots will occur by the end of <br />the current fiscal year and that housing constn~ction, beginning in the fall, will occur aver the <br />next 1-2 years. Habitat expects to make its formal application to the Committee later this spring <br />with a final decision an bond fund allocation to be scheduled before the BOGC. Since that time, the County has been exploring options for bath long-term and temporary <br />replacement of that SWCC. There are three footprints for a small, temporary SWCC site at the <br />County's Public Works site on Highway 86N that remain under consideration. However, the <br />principal focus is on identifying a passible permanent replacement SWCC site, perhaps to be <br />co-located with one or more other County facilities, such as a park..
