r <br />~~ tt ~ fit'. . <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />RESOLUTION CALLING UPON THE TOWN OF HILLSBOROUGH <br />TO PARTNER FIFTY/FIFTY FINANCIALLY WITH THE HYCONEECHEE <br />REGIONAL LIBRARY SYSTEM AND COUNTY IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF <br />AFREE-STANDING BRANCH LH3RARY <br />IN ITS DOWNTOWN AREA <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of Orange County, North Carolina is <br />dedicated to providing comprehensive library services to all County residents, in both <br />urban and rural areas; and <br />WHEREAS, Orange County recognizes and values the opportunity to collaborate with <br />the Town of Hillsborough toward the development of branch library services as desired <br />within its corporate limits to augment the services and opportunities available at the <br />central library in Hillsborough; and <br />WHEREAS, the Town of Hillsborough along with the County recognizes the vital role <br />that libraries play in the lives of our residents and our communities, providing resources <br />for lifelong learning, an outlet for recreational reading, a bridge across the digital divide, <br />a slate of cultural programs for all ages, and a community center for all to use; <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Commissioners of Orange <br />County, North Cazolina does hereby call upon the Town of Hillsborough to affirm its <br />commitment to afree-standing branch library in its midst by agreeing to establish a 50/50 <br />financial partnership with the County to provide the capital funding for the <br />implementation of this important public purpose. <br />This is the I5`h day of November, 2005. <br />Moses Carey, .Ir,, Chair <br />Orange County Board of <br />
