Appoint Mr. Anthony Carey, who the BOCC recently selected to fill our advisory board's
hotel/restaurant & tourism position, as Economic Development's designated liaison to
also serve on the Chapel Hill/Orange County Visitor's Bureau Board. He has agreed to
serve in this manner.
2. Approve Ms. Sharon Hill, who was also recently appointed by the BOCC to complete a
partial term expiring on 6/30/17, to represent the entrepreneurial position on the Orange
County Economic Development Board for her first full 3-year term. She has agreed to
serve for a second term and we request that she be reappointed.
3. Reappoint Ms. Paige Zinn, our current Vice-Chair, to a second 3-year term. She
represents the Core Business Community position within the Orange County Economic
Development Advisory Board. Her first term expires on 6/30/17. She has agreed to
serve for a second term and we request that she be reappointed.
4. Extend the appointment of existing members D.R. Bryan and Delores Bailey for one
additional year, as permitted by our advisory board's guidelines. They will complete their
second terms on 6/30/17. Both individuals have extensive experience and involvement
as subcommittee members on the Orange County Economic Development Small
Business Grant program and provide needed leadership to review grant applications and
make awards to our many small business applicants. Their continued participation will
help the County's Small Business Grant's program into another successful year.
In addition, D.R. Bryan has played an active role in advising the Board of County
Commissioners, the Orange County Manager's Office and the Orange County Economic
Development office with key matters with the ongoing consultant S.W.O.T. analysis of
the County's three economic development districts and the CITAN nodes to be reviewed
in 2017. His continued board representative and assistance in this regard is crucial.
Thank you for your considerations of these actions.
Sincerely,
Jim Kitchen, Chair
Orange County Economic Development Advisory Board
