Any animal seized and impounded which is badly wounded pr <br /> diseased (not a rabies suspect), and has no identification may be destroyed <br /> pursuant to procedures of the Animal Control Shelter. If the animal has <br /> identification, the Animal Control Shelter shall attempt to notify the owner or <br /> keeper before disposing- of such animal. <br /> Section XIV. It shall be unlawful and a violation of this ordinance for <br /> any animal owner, keeper or other person to fail to comply with the laws of <br /> North Carolina relating to the control of rabies. <br /> Section XV. Hospitals, clinics and other premises operated by licensed <br /> veterinarians for the care and treatment of animals are exempt from the <br /> provisions of this ordinance except for the provisions relating to cruelty to <br /> animals and rabies control. <br /> Section XVI. Ail animal impounded under this ordinance may be <br /> reclaimed by its owner or keeper according to the procedures of the Animal <br /> Control Shelter, but, if impounded as vicious, only upon written authorization of <br /> ' the Animal Control Officer. Said authorization shall be granted when the Animal <br /> Control Officer is reasonably assured that the vicious animal will be properly <br /> restrained on the premises of its owner or keeper.
