Two questions were
1..;"' posed to be answered at this meeting. First, where Would the agency be housed?
. . Serondly, who would provide
the approximately $36,600 in additional funds necessary
to support the new department?
••, Location and Space
., ,^

Existing staff consisting of three positions ( supervisor, Dm social workers,
'" -
and 1 coordinator) occupy three offices at Grady Brown n (37h sq. ft.) and share
- half an office, half time, at Northside (80 sq. ft.).
In addition, two additional
offices at ( 220 sq.ft.) Enabling Ordinance
A draft ordinance patterned after the creation of the Department on Aging is at-
tached for consideration. T h e County Atto rney is s till researching the ordinance
and possible contract provisions that would apply between DSS and the new county
8 department..
Timetable,
Two view
^'"
t on timing and sequencing. Advisory Board activity between this Fall
and July wouldinc l daod - ur th e d epa rtment's acceptance, solicitation of
funding and the establishment of
short and long range goals for the department.
Another view is that establishment of the agency and appointment of the Board
' members be postponed until start-u • can coincide with the new budget year of July 1,
1984. This would avoid problems with cost of space prorations, account separation,
- ' budget amendments, indirect cost plans and audits.
 ' ^ `| ` -I _
Wit DSS and others,
