Whitted Chairman • Orange County Board of Commissioners 106 East Margaret Lane Hillsborough, M.c. 27278 1 Dear Chairman Whitted: • On September 13, 1983, the Carrboro Board of Aldermen adopted the WaterqUalityr Task Force Report, with Addendum of July 1983. Some of the policies and management strategies in that report speak to actions contem- platedlto be undertaken by Orange County. In February, the Town submitted the original Report for the County's review.. As a result of comments to that draft we have revised our recommended changes to the County Sedimenta- tion and Erosion Control Ordinance (see Section 8(1)(h) and 8(1)(k)). We hope these revisions and the entire scope of recommended changes to the Sedimentation and Erosion Control Ordinance are acceptable to the County. Please note that Carrboro has adopted those ordinances which are necessary to implement the Report. The effective date of these ordinances will be synonymous with the date the County adopts recommended revisions to the Sedimentation and Erosion Control Ordinance. In the event that the County Modifies the recommended revisions, would you allow us to review thm prior to submitting them to the State for its approval. It is our hope that the County Board of Commissioners will expedite this matter, recalling that the County has already reviewed the Town's pro- , posals and has indicated. a broad support towards the Town's effort and towards the shared concerns of all governments exercising jurisdiction over the University Lake Watershed.
