Minimum Standards for Basic Plumbing. <br /> (- I <br /> 5.1 Every dwelling unit shall be supplied with potable water, and shall be <br /> connected to a public sewer or other sewage disposal system approved by the <br /> :'- <br /> Orange County Department of Health, the North Carolina Department of Natural <br /> Resources and Community Development, or the North Carolina Department of <br /> Human Resources. <br /> I <br /> 5.2 Any plumbing fixtures shall be located within the dwelling unit and be <br /> f accessable to the occupants of the dwelling unit. The water closet or urinal and <br /> I <br /> FP tub or shower shall be located in an enclosed room or rooms. <br /> r i <br /> [ 1 <br /> 5.3 Any plumbing fixture shall be so constructed and installed that it will <br /> function safely and effectively and shall be maintained in good repair capable of <br /> Ff performing the function for which it was originally intended. <br /> 1". 5.4 Whenever all or any part of the existing plumbing system or fixtures <br /> shall be replaced, modified, altered or expanded, then such new installation shall <br /> i <br /> 1 <br /> be made in accordance with the North Carolina State Building Code. <br /> 1 <br /> Article 6. Minimum Standards for nesting. Every dwelling or dwelling unit <br /> shall be supplied with a central or electrical heating system or other safe heating <br /> facilities in proper operating condition and capable of heating all habitable rooms, <br /> bathrooms, and water closet compartments to a minimum temperature of sixty- <br /> eight (68) degrees Fahrenheit measured three (3) feet above the center of the <br /> floor whenever the outdoor temperture is below fifty-five (55) degrees Fahrenheit. <br /> I <br /> Article 7. Minimum Standards for Electrical Equipment and Facilities. <br /> Every dwelling and dwelling unit shall be wired for electric lights and convenience <br /> i receptacles as follows: <br /> 7.1 Every habitable room containing seventy (70) square feet of floor area <br /> t,- or less shall contain at least two (2) floor or wall-type electric convenience <br /> receptacles, 1 and every habitable room containing more than seventy (70) square <br /> 1 <br /> feet of floor 1 area shall be provided with at least three (3) receptacles but not <br /> less than one receptacle for every fifty (50) square feet of floor space. <br /> 7.2 Every bathroom, water closet room, laundry room, and furnace room <br /> shall contain at least one supplied ceiling or wall type electric light fixture. <br /> 7.3 Every public hall and stairway in every multiple dwelling shall be <br /> adequately lighted by electric lights from sunset to sunrise. <br /> 7.4 All electrical fixtures, receptacles, equipment and wiring shall be <br /> maintained in a state of good repair, safe, free of fire or shocking hazards, and <br /> ,'- <br /> capable of performing the function for which it was originally intended. <br /> r, <br /> -.5- <br /> f <br /> , <br /> 1 <br /> ; <br /> . . <br /> , _ <br />
