Collins
Planning Director
Orange Codnty Planning Department
Hillsborough, -N. C. 27278
Dear Mr. Collins:
We writing in regard to the rezoning request of Mr. James
P. Goforth cited in your memorandum of November 15, 1983 to the
Orange CoJnty Planning Board. Our comments on the proposed rezonin.
of the 44..tt acre tract on the North side of Weaver Dairy Road and
South of the 1-40 corridor are as follows:
1) An RE5 zoning would appear to be mpre appropriate than the
prop sed R-8 designation given the character of the surroundi g
deve opments.
2) Our greatest concern is that development of the tract in
question be done in such a way that the relative privacy of
the elderly residents of Carol Woods be preserved by adequate
preservation of trees and appropriate distancing of new units
from the Carol Woods property line. Mr. Goforth has given
us assurances on these subjects.
3) Assuming that an R-5 designation is made and given the assurances
as stated above, we would be supportive of a change in zoning
froml the present R-1 statu.s. Mr. Goforth has a reputation as
a builder of quality housing; and we would expect that this
property would be developed in a way that will preserve, and
possibly even enhance, the residential character of our
neighborhood.
Please feel free to call on us if you have any questions or a
need for fliarther information on this matter.
Sincerely,
46_
John A.
