1
November 25, 1983
•
Planning Board
Orange Courlaty Planning Department •
Hillsborough, NC 27278
Dear Board Members:
I will not be able to attend the Public Hearing scheduled for Monday,
November 28, 1983. Still, I wish to submit some thoughts for your
consideration regarding a R-1 to R-8 rezoning request by J.P. Goforth.
My wife and I own approximately 10 acres on the south side of Weaver
Dairy Road; just across from the Coventry development (Map 25-2A).
• We are concerned that high intensity development along Weaver Dairy
Road might be of such density that the road would become hazardous.
It is with this perspective that we are asking the Board to support no
greater that R-5 residential zoning for any property with direct
•
access to eaver Dairy Road, and we offer the following arguments:
1. Arterills (as Weaver Dairy Road is designated) are "characterized
• by relatively high travel speed with minimum interference to
through traffic."
2. An estimated 1,491 to 1,536 vehicles per day from this property
represents 15% of the total capacity of Weaver Dairy Road feeding
the
n arterial at a single point.
3. The access point to Weaver Dairy Road from this property is within
one-half mile of Tymberline Shopping Center, which could easily
conttlibute an equal if not larger number of cars to this arterial.
Thank you or the opportunity to have these points considered in your
deliberatidns...
Sincerely,
Charles Pulliam •
