•
4 ;
Page 5
Education: Development of the property in question will have an impact
in terms of the ability of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro school system to
provide adequate educational space for new children. Phillips Jr. High
School has a capacity of 725 students with 786 in attendance. Senwell
Elementary School has a capacity of 388 students with 341 in attendance
A capacity is not known for Chapel Hill High School but 1,197 students
are un attendance now.
Development of the property at R-8 densities could result in as many as
240 new students. The major impact of this development would be on Phi lips
Jr. High where 80 additional students might be expected.
Commercial/cultural facilities: The site is located approximately 3.4
miles from the central business district of Chapel Hill and approximate y
6.2 miles from the proposed Timberlyne commercial development along
Weaver Dairy Road. Business within these two areas as well as existing
and future commercial development can serve the shopping needs of futur
arealresidents.
A wide array of cultural activities are available in Chapel Hill and
Durh6: many offered through university-sponsored programs.
" .
- ;
