PRESENTED i3inigTARY <br /> GR1MSLEY -- FINAL COPY <br /> NATURAL RESOURCES AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT <br /> STATE-LOCAL ACTION AGENDA <br /> FALLS AND JORDAN WATERSHEDS <br /> OCTOBER 7, 1983** <br /> A, A-II CLASSIFICATION FOR DRINKING WATER <br /> Concerns have been raised regarding the classification of <br /> Falls and Jordan Lakes A-II to allow them to be used for drinking <br /> water, This cone rn is focused on toxics and synthetic organic <br /> chemicals. <br /> 1 , STATE ACTION <br /> NRCD recommends that: <br /> a. The A-I1 classification be aPproved by the Environmental <br /> Management Commission for both lakes. <br /> b. Withdrawals for drinking water purposes from Jordan <br /> not be approved until it has been determined that the <br /> water, is safe to drink with respect to toxics and synthetic <br /> organic chemicals. <br /> c. NRCD will conduct necessary research, analysis and <br /> monitoring to determine quality for water supply, <br /> 2. LOCAL ACTION <br /> NRCD recommends that: <br /> a. Municipalities critically review their industrial <br /> pre-t eatment programs to determine their effectiveness in <br /> controlling toxics and synthetic organic chemicals, <br />
